What's swimming in the Crystal River
- A CPW fish-count survey led by biologist Kendall Bakich found Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout and Mountain Whitefish (more abundant here than on the nearby Roaring Fork), along with sculpins and speckled dace (Pitkin Outside).
- CPW stocked roughly 280,000 Rainbow Trout fingerlings plus 5,000 catchable Rainbows in 2021, using a whirling-disease-resistant strain (Pitkin Outside).
